About Madi Weland Solomon

Madi is returning to the information factory as Director of Content Standards with Pearson. On August 18, 2008, she will report to Freya Thomas Monk at 80 Strand in London.

Prior to Pearson, she was an independent metadata and taxonomy consultant specializing in rich media. As the former Corporate Taxonomist for The Walt Disney Company, she developed standards & practices for metadata (core element set and moving image), cataloguing guidelines, corporate taxonomy and media ontology.She is Chair of the AMIA (Association for Moving Image Archivists) Metadata Joint SubCommittee, member of the LOC‘s (Library of Congress) Moving Image Collections Cataloging and Metadata Working Group, and a contributor to the ISAN Best Practices for Audiovisual Works. Prior to Disney, she was Project Associate at the Getty Information Institute in Standards and Vocabularies, and Curatorial Assistant for the Broad Art Foundation.

She lives in London, UK, with her husband and daughter.
